What To Watch For
With both Haas drivers unable to finish the race, it may be easy to forgot the success that Romain Grosjean had in qualifying. Sebastien Vettel proving that the Ferrari engine has what it takes to battle with Mercedes, along Gunther Steiner’s comments on the engine, mean that Haas could be set up for a much improved season if they are able to finish races.
Ferrari fans were excited to see their team win their first grand prix in quite some time. Now the question is if this success can continue and what will the future hold for this season.
Importance of Strategy
Overtaking is apparently very difficult in the new cars so strategy can become much more important. With the new tires able to be pushed harder, it could be expected that race strategists look to bring their drivers into the pits to find gaps between the cars where their driver will be able to run flat out with no one in front of them for the longest period of time.
The lack of power and reliability of the Honda power unit has plagued the team since the start of testing. If Mclaren wants to have any success this season, they will need to improve their engine quickly as to not get too far behind in points while these issues persist.
